Anthrax - Sound Of White Noise [1993]

Não dá para dizer se este disco é melhor ou pior do que o excelente Persistence Of Time, de 1990. É páreo duro. Melhor esperar a poeira baixar. O Anthrax mudou seu som. Nada que o tenha deixado irreconhecível, até porque a voz de John Busb (ex-Armored Saint) não é muito diferente da de Joe Belladonna. O que o quinteto novaiorquino fez foi radicalizar no minimalismo e nas influências de Black Sabbath e de seus apóstolos de Seattle. "Hy Pro Glo" remete direto para "Children Of The Grave". As guitarras de "This Is Not Na Exit" lembram "We Die Young", do Alice In Chains. Em "Room For One More", os riffs parecem gravados de trás para frente, corno faz o Soundgarden. "1,000 Points Of Hate" tem scratches de Terminator X, do Public Enemy. Só duas músicas fogem da muralha sônica o hit "Only" (próximo do metal melódico inglês) e a balada "Black Lodge", arranjada por Angelo Badalamenti, que fez a trilha de Twin Peaks. Há vida inteligente no thrash metal.
